Mirror/glass mosaic can be mounted on the following surfaces:
• ceramic tiles
• plaster
• brick
• concrete
• tree
• CHIPBOARD
• MDF
• plywood
• polyester
• polystyrene
• steel
• aluminum
• glass
• drywall
• painted surface
It is not recommended to use the following surfaces for laying mirror/glass mosaics:
• wallpaper
• epoxy coatings
• coatings aggressive to the mirror amalgam (having an alkaline reaction)
The first step is to prepare the surface on which the installation will be carried out:
1. Clean the surface from dust, plaster, paint, chalk, lime.
2. It is recommended to prime the porous surface, putty, apply varnish or paint (exclude water-based emulsion).
3. The base should be smooth (not have bumps, sharp breaks, protrusions).
4. Mark the base on which the mirror tile will be applied.
The second step is to prepare the necessary tools:
• glue
• glue gun
• clean rags or rags
• level
• roulette
• pencil
• rubber spatula (preferably)
• rubber roller
• glass cutter (preferably)
• masking and double-sided adhesive tape
The third step is installation:
1. Lay out all the glass mosaics on a flat horizontal surface.
2. Apply a special mirror adhesive or neutral sealant to the surface intended for gluing glass mosaics.
3. Gluing is better done by pressing down, using a rubber roller.
4. Do not use cement-based glue, universal sealants and other non-specialized materials for fixing glass mosaics!
5. The distance between the sheets should be equal to the gap between the two mosaic chips (+/- 2 mm).
6. After installation, allow time for at least partial drying of the glue, then rub the gaps between the chips with a special grout using a rubber spatula.
7. After the putty solidifies, wash off the excess with a rag and water.
8. Installation should be carried out at a temperature from +10 ° C to +40 ° C.
The fourth step is shutdown:
After laying, all seams must be carefully sealed with latex or acrylic waterproof grout or it is possible to use neutral sealants of any color. Since the edges of the glass chips are quite sharp, the grout should be applied flush with the surface of the glass.
